Moonstone
Moonstone is a variety of the feldspar-group mineral orthoclase exhibiting a soft, watery opaqueness and a silvery-white reflection called chatoyancy that moves as a line across the surface as light varies. During formation, orthoclase and albite separate into alternating layers. When light falls between these thin layers it is scattered producing the phenomenon called adularescence — a billowy, moonlight-like sheen.
